Focus Ireland Calls for Emergency Response by Government as Numbers Homeless Hits a Record High

Figures published by the Department of Housing today show the number of people who are officially homeless has reached a record high of 10,568 people. This is an increase of 76 since the June figure of 10,492 and a shocking 30% increase from only a year ago (8,132 in July 2021).

Focus Ireland is calling for urgent Government action to help stop the exodus of landlords from the private rental market as the new Daft report shows a sharp drop in the number of homes for rent nationwide. The DAFT report states there were just 716 homes available to rent on August 1st, down from almost 2,500 a year ago and a new all-time low in a series that extends back to 2006.

Homeless figures edging towards a historic high must ignite urgent Government action as the nation faces a social emergency

Figures published by the Department of Housing today show the number of people who are officially homeless is edging ever closer to the historic record high last seen in October 2019 when 10,514 people were in emergency homeless accommodation. There were 10,492 people in emergency homeless accommodation in June, 167 more than in May and 2,478 more than a year ago.

Focus Ireland warns homeless figures will continue to rise as latest stats show 10,325 people are without a home

Figures published by the Department of Housing today show the number of people who are officially homeless has risen to 10,325, with a record of 5,054 single people without a home. There were 276 more homeless in May when compared with 10,049 in April and 2,334 more than a year ago, a 29% increase.

New figures show homeless figures back to pre-pandemic levels as numbers in Emergency Accommodation rise over a significant 10,000 once again

Figures published by the Department of Housing today (27th May) show the number of people who are officially homeless has risen again above 10,000, a level not seen since before the pandemic.

New Figures Show Record Number of Single People Now Homeless as Total Rises Above 5,000 for First Time

New figures show the number of people homeless has risen again in March to a total of 9825 – a jump of 333 people since February. The figures published by the Department of Housing also report that the number of single people homeless has now risen above 5,000 for the first time.
