Minister Darragh O’Brien Opens New Focus Housing Development Which is Providing Five New Homes in Dublin City Centre
The Minister for Housing Local Government and Heritage Darragh O’Brien today officially opened Focus Housing Association’s new 5-unit development at Prussia Street in Stoneybatter.
The site located on 92a Prussia Street has been transformed previously from a once derelict, urban infill site now into a wonderful living space for 5 new long term housing units. The homes developed and built by Marcton Properties Limited and CJH Construction will further contribute to the ongoing conversion and regeneration of the Stoneybatter, Dublin 7 area.
The delivery provides much needed housing for the area and aligns with Focus Housing’s Energy Masterplan for future retrofitting needs and maintaining sustainable and communities. The project here in Prussia Street is another step along the path to help Focus Ireland maximise our efforts to reduce our energy footprint.
This has been a great project delivering wonderful new homes right in the heart of one of Dublin’s most historic areas to (families and individuals) with complex needs that now have a place to call home, Focus Ireland CEO, Pat Dennigan said, “A home is central to wellbeing and a decent quality of life and for people to have the opportunity to achieve their potential and, given that chance and security that we all rightly deserve. This can only be achieved with the provision of affordable, secure, and good quality housing. Only substantial effort and monetary investment is needed to guarantee more housing stock so we can provide standard forms of social and affordable housing for tenants. Prussia St is an example of that. An example also of the use of space right in the city which can bring new life to the community.”
The five homes are delivered in partnership with Dublin City Council, Housing Finance Agency, The Housing Agency and The Department of Housing means 5 more households (families and individuals) have a place to call home.

Projects like this one in Stoneybatter make efficient use of a disused site and enable households to live sustainably, close to all amenities in the heart of Dublin 7. I commend Dublin City Council and Focus Ireland for their hard work and partnership with my department to realise the ambition of Housing for All – to deliver homes and improve lives.’’

Prussia Street is conveniently located on the Northside of the city between the River Liffey, the North Circular Road, Smithfield Market, and Grangegorman. Each apartment enjoys an A rated BER, communal bicycle storage, private open space, broadband internet access, double glazed windows, intercom access, mechanical exhaust heat pump heating system, built in wardrobes, finished flooring & window blinds. A number of sustainable measures were incorporated into this build included: insulated concrete foam block (ICF) construction (A Modern Method of Construction) for superior thermal and acoustic properties, SUDS rainwater planter boxes, permeable paving & roof mounted PV solar paneling”.
